Tropical Kale Smoothie

This healthy green beverage is perfect for breakfast, or even just an on-the-go snack. Bursting with tropical flavour, this combination of mango and pineapple will leave you longing for the warm breeze of your favourite Caribbean island. The ingredient that gives this smoothie it’s distinguishable green colour is kale! Kale is full of antioxidants and is loaded with vitamin C and vitamin K. Contrary to popular belief, healthy things can taste good!


One of the best parts about this smoothie is that the recipe is completely modifiable! You can change the proportions of any of the ingredients, and even take some out and replace them if you like. No matter who you are, you are sure to love this creamy, tropical smoothie!

Serves: 1

Prep time: about 20 minutes

 

Ingredients:

  • 3/4 cup chopped kale

  • 1 cup orange juice

  • 1/2 cup frozen pineapple

  • 1/2 cup frozen mango chunks

  • 4 tablespoons vanilla yogurt or coconut yogurt for a vegan option

 

Special equipment:

  • Blender

 
  1. Place the kale and orange juice in the blender and blend on low speed for 1-2 minutes or until the kale chunks are barely visible.

  2. Add the frozen fruit and yogurt and blend on high speed until smooth.

  3. Pour into a glass and enjoy.
